Summit Air Supports Injured Veterans through Wounded Warriors Weekend

Summit Air was proud to be a part of the 3rd Annual Wounded Warriors Weekend August 1st to 5th, which welcomed 186 veterans, family members, and caregivers to Slave Lake, Alberta from as far away as the UK, the US, and Australia.

The five-day event is intended to demonstrate appreciation and recognition to troops returning from active duty and dealing with post-traumatic stress, bringing soldiers together for a weekend of bonding and relaxation.

Summit had the pleasure of working with the North Carolina-based All Veterans Parachute Team (AVPT) who used our Dornier 228 as a platform for two days of free-fall parachute jumping over the beautiful city of Slave Lake.

AVPT provides activities and skydiving for veterans and their families to help them heal from the seen and unseen wounds of war.  Their programs include Therapy in the Air, which provides injured troops with an often life-changing experience through a tandem jump that fosters lasting friendships and healing.
